Janzi Band is a Ugandan Afro-fusion,Contemporary and world music group formed on the 27th August 2009 by Ssewakiryanga James aka Ssewa Ssewa.

Janzi Instrument  invented by Ssewa Ssewa. It was vetted and accorded utility model protection by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO) in Zimbabwe and Uganda Registration Services Bureau in 2017.

Janzi is a registered company as JANZI BAND LIMITED ( under section 18 (3) 0f the companies act 2012 in Uganda.

The Inventor

Born in 1987 in kampala, Uganda to a musical family. Ssewakiryanga James Jnr aka Ssewa Ssewa begn his artistic journey at an early age.

He has since attended a number of music schools,Festivals, visited many countries and entertained audiences in thousands in Uganda and around the world.

Ssewa Ssewa founder of Janzi band in 2009 to extend his artistic mission with a collection of Uganda’s most celebrated instrumentalists.

Besides Janzi ( Instrument) Ssewa Ssewa has innovated other Ugandan traditional instruments like the Adungu, Akogo, Endingidi, Endongoi etc.

Ssewa Ssewa leds his audience into the enticing and soulful Afriucan music culture with traditional aintruments, songs and stories frim his homeland, weaving these traditions together with am0dern and global sound.

Janzi, also lends its stage / platform to several causes that need their voices to be heard at their several weekly performances. We discover new talents and work with them to showcase their music/ Artistic craft, promoting and presenting new creativeness to the world.
