The Janzi is a musical instrument conceived by Ssewakiryanga James Jr. He was born in 1987 to Ssewakiryanga James Senior from Bulyankuyege, Mityana District of Buganda. His mother Betty Namatta Ssewakiryanga came from Luwero District, in Uganda. He was born in a musical family that lived in Kampala, the Capital City. Ssewakiryanga began his artistic journey at a tender age, and has since attended a number of musical conferences, festivals and workshops.
